Marc Gertler grew up in Brooklyn, received his B.A from Columbia University and his J.D. from Boston University in 1984.  He returned to Brooklyn in 1993 to raise his family in Boerum Hill.   He has been representing accident victims since 1985, practicing in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels.  He is as comfortable researching and writing about complicated legal issues as he is presenting a case to a jury.

Marc has spent his career focusing on the need to level the playing field so that all members of our community, regardless of their socio-economic background, have equal access to the courthouse and our system of justice. Toward that end, for 32 years, he was the litigation partner at a personal injury firm advocating tirelessly for those who have been wronged, often by corporations and government agencies with far greater resources, trying cases in all counties in the city and beyond, obtaining six and seven figure verdicts in compensation. At the same time, he managed a team of lawyers guiding them in their pursuit of justice for the firm’s clients.

Marc is a member of the Kings County Bar Association and the New York State Trial Academy. He has lectured on personal injury matters, and mentored law students.  He is proud to now be of counsel to the remarkable Avanzino and Moreno firm, where he continues to fight for the rights of people who have been injured due to the negligence and malfeasance of others.

Marc still lives in Brooklyn with his family where he enjoys the consistently stimulating arts and culture that the city offers, as well as its less consistent sports teams.
